Kareks is sourcing licorice roots with botanical name Glycyrrhiza glabra since 1996 with sustainable methods. We have expertise in collecting from wild the highest quality Non-GMO Turkish Origin licorice roots.
QUALITY CONTROL & ANALYSIS
There are several licorice root growing areas in Turkey with different taste and active substances levels of which we can respond to our customer’s tailored needs. Every licorice root batch is being sourced from the regions that we have full control and harvesting experience to make sure the absence of other wild roots and impurities like Sophora roots. Also every wild collected batch is analyzed for Ochratoxin A, active substances like Glycyrrhizic Acid and other impurities.
ORGANIC & SUSTAINABLE SOURCING
Our expertise in licorice root harvesting ensures quality and sustainability by harvesting at least 3 years old licorice roots after the leaves and flowers fall. We are both NOP (USDA Organic) and EU (Bio) Organic certified by Ecocert SA.

We are very experienced in processing licorice roots and we know that cut size shape and color dramatically affect the quality of tea bags, tea pyramids and loose leaf tea products. From many years of experience we have optimized our production to offer high density licorice root fine cut for tea bags. Also for the customers looking for sweeter and less earthy taste we offer peeled (decorticated) or scrubbed licorice roots in many different forms and calibers. Our licorice roots can be used for the extraction of Glycyrrhizic Acid , Mono Ammonium Gycyrrhizinate(MAG), Glabridin.
